Traffic figures released earlier this week by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) show that passenger demand for its member airlines in the Asia-Pacific region remain depressed. Asia Pacific airlines carried 1.1 million international passengers in April. Available seat capacity was only 4% of levels registered in 2019, with the international passenger load factor averaging 26.4% for the month. Air cargo demand measured in freight tonne-kilometres (FTK) has increased by 42% year-on-year in April, achieving volumes slightly above the same period in 2019.
